Fill in the Blank Friday: Lasts

Wow October 5th! How did it get to be that already? Seriously. October. We're two months away from this year ending and potentially getting closer to a Zombie Apocalypse  ha. ha. Suppose they'll forgive my student loans? That would be awesome! Ugh yeah... Finding out the big bad # of debt was a bummer this week for sure. I've been kind of stressed this week in terms of finances (plus it did not help that it cost $261 for new lenses for my glasses. Yes. Lenses). Somehow the loans will get paid -- just am anxious to get it all zero-ed out so I can start on my next educational adventure. We'll see though. I think I just am feeling a little ADD these days and am wanting to change something (*positively*) in my life. Maybe I'm just addicted to that feeling of starting over and freshness. Kind of like getting a whole new planner and admiring its crispness. Anyhow... I am in a rambly mood... I will go onto the "Fill in the Blank Friday." I haven't done this for awhile - as Sara says, she's lost her mojo for blogging. So have I. I'm still trying to find it out "there" ;-)

Thanks Lauren for the blanks & this image!
1. The last thing I ate was   Raspberry Chobani 0% fat yogurt. SO good! Now, this is a real addiction folks! I eat it for breakfast, snack, lunch, and amazingly: dessert. Just thinking about it makes me want another. haha

2. The last time I went to the beach was   September 1st. Unfortunately, it was not the best beach trip ever -- it would have been pretty awesome had an emergency not occurred. Oh well. Things just happen and you go on with it!

3. My last vacation was to   Southern California for a week in August. Went to a cousin's wedding in Newport Beach/Bay (such a fun day!) and then went to Disneyland 2 days, Hollywood Tour and Universal Studios.

4.The last place I drove was   to take my dad to the doctor's office then we went over to the mall so I could get my new work pants re-hemmed. Productive morning on this beautiful Fall day!

5. The last song I listened to was ... Oh good question. I generally have the radio on when I drive but I didn't this morning with dad in the car. So last night coming home from work was the last time I listened to music. I flip between 95.5 (modern pop music) and 99.5 (Wolf/ country music). Anyhow, it was some song from one of those stations! haha

6. The last thing I watched on TV was   the Presidential Debates. I use my actual TV for Netflix 90% of the time, however. Currently Mom and I are enjoying the old show "Coach." I remember it being on TV when I was really young so it's fun to see it now. We laugh a lot!

7. The last time I said "I love you" was to Brian. :)

Happy Friday everyone! I'm looking forward to hearing a football game tonight at my old high school. Hoping for another exciting game :)

Fill in the Blank Friday: Cheerful

It's Friday! It's Friday! I have had one busy week of subbing and tutoring. So thankful it is the weekend -- my last few days of freedom before Summer semester starts. Ahh!

Lauren @ the little things we do
I haven't done "Fill in the Blank Friday" for quite some time and thought I would join Lauren today. You can too -- she has an easy link up on her post! :) She was feeling happy today so her blanks reflect her mood.

1. Something that is very near and dear to my heart is teaching. There have been days where I questioned my choice but experiences like the one yesterday remind me that this is exactly what I am supposed to do. It's an honor to be an advocate for children and guide them along.

2.  Friday is a good cause to celebrate.

3. The most fun I ever had was hmm.... I have had lots of great times! I loved my trips to AZ but for overall fun --- probably my years at WOU getting my undergrad. I loved living in a small town and had a blast being "on my own." I also had some great goofy times with my girlfriends! I miss those days.

4. True friends are (Oh brother, I could write another post on this!) genuinely interested in you and accepts you the way you are. Good friends make each other better in the long-run but they do not try to change one another.

5. A good way to spend a sunny day is outside gardening, taking a walk or being totally lazy like a cat.

6. My favorite celebratory food is ice cream/frozen yogurt/chocolate. Yum!

Fill in the Blank Friday: Color

Lauren @ little things we do

Yes.. it's not Friday but I really wanted to do this fill-in-the-blank post but wasn't feeling too great last night. I love this week's theme: color

If you would like to do these posts in the future, check out Lauren's blog (link is underneath the picture-- which she kindly allows her readers/FITBers use).

~~
1.  My favorite color is     teal (though I love all kinds- ocean colors and peacock theme colors and crimson red haha)  .

2.   My home decor color palette includes  (changing this to my future home)  will have all kinds of colors! I am inspired by Bonnie's blog, Going Home to Roost-- love her style .

3.  Other people always tell me I look good in the color(s)   blue, green and red   .

4. The color I detest is  hmm don't really detest many... I do agree though, not a huge fan of the pink and purple combo for home decorating.

5. If you were to look in my closet most of the colors you'd see would be  lots and lots of blue shades, gray, red cream and some green. Hoping to add more colors over time!

6. A color that I simply cannot pull off no matter how hard I try is   sadly yellow, which is such a happy color. Perhaps I can wear skirts with that color?! Being a fair skinned redhead limits me... Orange and purple are also not good colors for me .

7.  The color of my favorite dress is   red ... I still love my red prom dress and the one I wore for my sister's wedding. Both dresses make me feel and look "wow" :)

Fill in the Blank Friday: Free Time

Happy Friday everyone!

Amazing, just a week ago I was hanging out in the hotel as it was the night before the wedding. Tonight, I am sitting in the green chair with Cheese Puff snuggled next to me (he thinks he owns this chair and does everything he can to take up the space) and Sarah is on the couch with cheeks bigger than a chipmunk's (she had her wisdom teeth out yesterday). Life is pretty darn exciting here and I like it... haha :)

Lauren's theme this week is free time. A glorious topic! I have had some of that this week and it has been really nice, also part of the reason why I got started on my big simplifying project. It's been a good week!

Credit: Lauren at "The Little Things We Do"

1. One of my favorite things to do when I have free time is to move slowly in the morning and take my time getting ready for the day. I love waking up and sitting in my bed for as long as I can (even better if there's a kitty resting in there with me!).

2. When I have free time I tend to spend more time on the computer than I should...

3. If I had an entire day completely to myself I would definitely spend quality time on Pinterest and catch up on blogs that I follow. Then I would, preferably with B, go to our favorite restaurant that serves amazing soup (and the prices are so, so good!) and other delicious treats. I would also get some frozen yogurt because I am addicted to that stuff :) Yes, I too, would eat a whole lot on my ideal day off. Hmm.. I would most likely spend time with a good friend and do a little shopping. End the day with a good meal, maybe watch something on TV and cozy up in my bed, only to dream of doing it all again!

4. I would prefer to spend my free time (alone or with others)... Both. I always like to have some time to myself, but then once I am satisfied with my alone time I am ready to be with others. I enjoy my time with family members and friends. I like to spend a good amount of time with Jennifer if she is available.

5. Most my free time happens at various times... This week has been fairly low-key, but I start my practicum on Monday and then free time will happen on the weekends.

6. The best thing about free time is getting to have control of what you want to do. I love it when I don't have to worry about getting from one place to the next.

7. The next time I have free time I should probably clean my room, continue my January Organization Project and read (I have a huge book stack on my nightstand!) but instead, I will probably use the day for running errands or avoiding my room (might get other things cleaned up haha). We shall see!

Fill in the Blank Friday: Holidays

credit: Lauren @ the little things we do
It is Friday folks! Happy, happy Friday! Also, this is the second day of a brand new month, December. Sheesh, last month of this crazy year... I wonder if we (being those of us in the PNW) will see that lovely white stuff any day soon...

Well, I am following along with Lauren this week at her blog "the little things we do" and doing her "Fill in the Blank Friday" post. She has the cutest blog and is a great writer, I am glad that my cousin "introduced" me to her.

With that said, here are the blanks and my answers!

1. The holiday season is mostly enjoyable, filled with fun moments, colorful lights, decorations, beautiful church services, reflection on the year, and to be reminded of hope.

2. Snow makes me very happy! I absolutely love it when school is cancelled and the city shuts down. People may look at Portland/PNW as a giant snow wimp, but I say-- we know how to enjoy a good snow day (or more if we are lucky, yeah Dec '08 was amazing!). :-)

3. The best comfort food to eat when it is cold out is soup, stew, roasts, basically anything in the Crockpot, and good tasting bread to go along with it all. Sounds like a bear's diet huh?

4. Winter is the best time for being cozy and connected to home. Great time to drink tea and hot chocolate, snuggle on the couch and relax in the light of the Christmas tree.

5. I can hardly wait for a break! Ever since the end of October I have been going, going, going non-stop. I will be happy to have the semester done, and a break from my wonderful jobs. I love 'em but do need to get refreshed.

6. When it comes to holiday gifts, I prefer to surprise others and make them feel special. Each year I love giving to people more and more. I also like to donate to those I don't know as well. There are so many organizations and charities that need money or supplies. Trying to pick two or three to donate to this month.

7. If I were to rate my excitement about the holiday season on a scale from 1-10, I would say I am at about a 6. I have a lot going on right now and haven't been able to focus on the Christmas season. Not only am I finishing up the semester and working, but there is the added excitement and busyness of wedding planning (for my sister)! With her wedding at the end of this month, we are making sure everything is all ready.  Would like to get a few relaxing moments once school and a sub job is finished-- I am hoping! :)

Here's to hoping your December and Christmas Season is filled with blessings, joy, and good times!

Fall Theme ~ Fill in the Blank Friday

Happy Friday!

I loved the "Fill in the Blank Friday" post for this week by The Little Things We Do. To go along with my love of this season I thought I would do this fun post!

Fill in the Blank Friday

gorgeous fall street right near where I work

1. Nothing says Fall like the changing leaves. I love all of the colors, especially the bright yellow trees. When the light hits them just right they can look golden. So exciting to see so many colors this time of year!

2. My favorite autumnal tradition is decorating the house. I love dressing up our fireplace mantel with our bronze colored sash (from a cousin's wedding!) and using a few other items to spruce it up. I also put up some of our paper decorations on the walls and spread around our other cute "trinkets."

3. My favorite Fall treat is PUMPKIN PIE!

4. Fall makes me think of nesting because it is a cozy season. This particular season in my life I have been feeling a lot more in tune with making a house a home - guess it is just from all the craziness of this year and wanting home to feel good. I also look forward to the day of living on my own and creating my own space! .... And Pinterest is to blame for some of this ;-)

5. Autumn free form association, go! Golden/yellow leaves, multicolored trees/leaves/vegetation, school, produce stores, pumpkins & patches, corn mazes, hay rides, fresh cool breezes, bronzey & sometimes golden light from the sun (such a funny angle it is at this time of year), family time, Thanksgiving, pies, lots of food, blankets, tea, oh yeah -- running....

6. My go-to outfit in the Fall is um, truthfully I don't have a go-to outfit for any season (working on that- anyone want to style me?! I have improved but...).... though I will say I love my flats, dark bootcut jeans, and layers - always a sweater of some sort. The Northwest is so unpredictable!

7. My favorite Fall holiday is (Halloween or Thanksgiving) without question, Thanksgiving. When I was in my undergrad days I really gained appreciation for this special holiday. 1) because of the FOOD... yes, I did eat well at college but let me tell you, family food tasted so wonderful to me during those years  2) getting a chance to catch up and relax with extended family members. To this day I feel pretty much the same about Thanksgiving but I focus more on family than the food. I also understand more and more how much I have to be thankful for. :)

A Fun Friday Post!

My cousin Simply Authentic took part it in a fun Friday blog post called "Fill in the Blank Friday" created by Lauren, at The Little Things We Do. Since I haven't had much time to write this week, I thought this would be a good post. Join in if you would like :)

Fill in the Blank Friday

1) You should always take the time to take pictures, important to capture those special moments in nature/time/with people (or whatever catches your eye!). You can't ever go back to the past and get those pictures again.

2) Cats & sunshine make(s) the world a happier place.

3) I can hardly wait *to be done with grad school (Dec 2012!) & *to pay off my student loans.

4) Any day I can set my own schedule/routine is my favorite day of the week.

5) Something totally dumb and ridiculous that I love is The Hills (MTV show).

6) If I could, I would make sure that all children in the world receive good quality education & have their basic needs met.

7) I rather like where I live. I have recently fallen in love with the PNW, the place I have lived in for 24 years. The past few years have been a struggle- mainly due to the climate and feeling restless...but I can deal with it. I love being nestled in between the mountains and ocean.
